Not Me, Not Us
The only air conditioner was on high. It had been a few hours since Natasha’s last break. The sweat on her body wasn’t noticeable unless you were looking for it. Wearing heels wasn’t helping either, but it was apart of her “uniform”. Natasha would slightly gag at some of the looks the pigs would give her. She quickly smiled thereafter. The last thing she needed was another attitude complaint.
The clock struck two am, signaling the end of work. The last of the men stumbled out of the club drunk. Natasha scoffed at them. Typical, she thought.
“Hey Angel, can you lock up? Stormy, Blaze and I have to go” Cayenne said to Natasha. “Our uber is here. Luke is coming right?” Natasha nodded. “Get home safe, alright?” She hugged Cayenne and locked the front door after her co-workers’ exit. She then sat in front of the bar, and poured herself a glass of water.
"I need a better stage name" Natasha muttered to herself. She looked at her phone. 2:24 am. Where is he? He knows we close at two! she thought to herself.
“I don’t think he’s coming” came a voice from behind her. “You know, you should really make sure you lock the door properly.”
“Sure, whatever. You need to leave. We’re closed,” Natasha spat. She rolled her eyes as the man slowly walked toward her. “Look bud, if you don’t go, I’ll call the cops”.
The man closed the distance between them in an instant. He covered her nose and mouth with his hand and pushed her up against the bar.
!
Natasha let her tears fall from her face and onto the floor.
“Baby,” Lukas said. “Please tell me what happened”.
Natasha’s favorite skirt was torn. Her hair rugged. Her makeup was smeared. She still had blood dripping down her thighs.
“It’s okay if you don’t want to talk,” he said. “Was it him?”
Natasha slowly nodded, letting a few more tears fall.
“I swear,” Lukas bellowed. “I’ll kill him!”
Natasha grabbed Lukas’ arm, bringing him closer to her.
“Don’t worry babe. I’m right here,” Lukas whispered.
She shoved her face against his chest.
“I’m sorry I didn’t get here fast enough.”
She took his hand, interlocking their fingers.
“If the cops don’t find him first, I promise you he’s a dead man walking”.
She brought her bra up as much as she could. She turned her head looking for her shirt.
“Here, I’ve got it.”
Natasha pulled her top over her head. She slightly nudged Lukas back, then slid down from the counter, and immediately fell to the floor.
“Tash…” Lukas whispered. “Here, let me help”.
Natasha stood and staggered to the table where her purse is. She gathered her items off the floor and turned to Lukas.
“Yeah, let’s go.”
